March 17, 2019March 17, 2019david Well, tonight's task is to make a thing for #piwars! Who'd a thunk it 🙂Question is, can anyone tell what I'm making? pic.twitter.com/veOMr7YfV2— David Booth (@Worlds6440) March 17, 2019 Attempt at heat bending 3d printed pla parts is a success.Heat shields either side of the area I want to bend so only the joint is heated. Couple of seconds with a hobby hot air gun and it's soft enough to freely transition 90 degrees. Stronger parts now! #piwars #piwarsblog pic.twitter.com/cpcJdQbHMR— David Booth (@Worlds6440) March 17, 2019 Those of you who have the luxury of 3d printing may know its flaws. The biggest is structural failure between layers. I design things to avoid this issue. The yellow mount is an old weak part but the bent red part layers always lie in the right direction#piwars #piwarsblog pic.twitter.com/sEk3r66EFC— David Booth (@Worlds6440) March 17, 2019 Final result of heat bending 3d printed parts.New strong mount points for items like sensors, camera and pinoon attachments. #piwars #piwarsblog pic.twitter.com/w9rsHZDszh— David Booth (@Worlds6440) March 17, 2019
